Valley Regional Girls’ Soccer Routs Hale-Ray

The 6th annual Chester Dog Fair took place September 19th at the Chester Fairgrounds, from 9:30am to 4:30pm. COVID-19 safety protocols were used, with attendees having temperatures and phone numbers taken to keep track of all those attending, masks were worn at all times, except when eating.   Music, and Doggy Olympic Events, vendors, food, a raffle and the Lure Course were some of the fun activities for attendees. Richard Raport  found a sunny spot for lunch with Josh, and  talked with Kate Holthausen.

Chester Holds Sixth Annual Dog Fair

The Chester Rotary Club held a Take-out Lobster Dinner Fundraiser at the Chester Fairgrounds on Saturday night, with 2 hot lobster dinners,corn on the cob, baked potato, butter rolls and coleslaw,  packed up to go for a drive through pick up. Over 200 meals were ordered. Angela Jones, Greg Jones, Kaitlin Sarsfield and Ted Taigen pack up the lobsters.

From þÄúLight up the NightþÄù to þÄúStars of HopeþÄù Chester Historical Society with the help of Christopher Owens aka the Star Man, are keeping the hope alive in Chester, CT and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each star sold for $50 (3.5ft star with white lights) raises $30 for the Chester Food Pantry.

Valley Regional High School held itþÄôs final dress rehearsal for their spring musical, Matilda, by Roald Dahl, produced and directed by Ingrid Walsh, orchestrations and additional music by Chris Nightingale, music direction by Keith and Laura Traver, coreography by Tessa Grunwald.  This was their last performance due to the schoolþÄôs extended recess due to the Covid - 19  virus. Valley Production of ‘Matilda’ Canceled by COVID Closure

A concert was held by the Haven String Quartet Sunday March 8th at Masonicare at Chester Village.  The quartet performed GlassþÄô String Quartet No. 2 and Dvor‡ºk String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96, þÄúAmerican.þÄù 

Annalisa Boerner  shares the background and hstory of one of their musical selections.

The Haven String Quarter serves as the permanent quartet-in-residence and teaching faculty for Music Haven, a tuition-free strings program for New Haven youth. The members of the quartet are Annalisa Boerner on viola, Yaira Matyakub on violin, Philip Boulanger on cello and Gregory Tompkins on violin.

Haven String Quartet Performs at Masonicare at Chester Village

The Valley Regional High School Crew Team held a Row-A-Thon to raise money for the team.  Each of the students got sponsors for their 5K rowing effort, with Adams Supermarket contributing food and snacks.  There is a website for anyone who would like to find out more about the team as well as contribute that missed this fundraiser and it can be found at VRHSCREW.org Ryce Libby and her teammates row 5K.

A  historic site on the CT Freedom Trail dedication took place on Sunday, at the former property of Judge Constance Baker Motley on Cedar Lake Road in Chester.  The public, friends and family turned out to celebrate the Chester Land Trust  creating the 7-acre Judge Constance Baker Motley Preserve on land the Motley family once owned, now included on the Freedom Trail  which is a state designation which honors extraordinary African Americans whose lives expanded the circle of freedom and opportunity for all Americans. Chester Land Trust Trustee, Jenny Kitsen gave the welcome remarks.
