Valley Regional High School held itþÄôs final dress rehearsal for their spring musical, Matilda, by Roald Dahl, produced and directed by Ingrid Walsh, orchestrations and additional music by Chris Nightingale, music direction by Keith and Laura Traver, coreography by Tessa Grunwald.  This was their last performance due to the schoolþÄôs extended recess due to the Covid - 19  virus. The Valley Regional High School Crew Team held a Row-A-Thon to raise money for the team.  Each of the students got sponsors for their 5K rowing effort, with Adams Supermarket contributing food and snacks.  There is a website for anyone who would like to find out more about the team as well as contribute that missed this fundraiser and it can be found at VRHSCREW.org Ryce Libby and her teammates row 5K.

The Santa Special, Elf Academy rolls out this holiday season abroad the Essex Steam Train.  Each railway car is decked out in festive holiday decorations with a personal þÄúElf ProfessorþÄù.  As they ride the train, children and their families are led through a series of songs, fun activities and games as they enjoy a special visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and learn how to become a Santa Elf.

Old Lyme-Valley-Saybrook Girls’ Swimming Places 6th in Class M

Artist and train enthusiast Steve Cryan at work on his train layout at the Connecticut River Museum. For the past 26 years his intricate miniature world of trains signals the start of the holiday season at the museum. The exhibit features an intricate 26ft model layout, a childrenþÄôs interactive layout, original art by Cryan, model trains and a discovery game. Collecting trains since he was a child Cryan worked on the railroad while serving in the army.  The train exhibit opens November 27th and runs through mid-February. The Connecticut River Museum hosted a Haunted River: Ghostly Tales & Valley Lore production October 25 26, and 27. The all new spooky adventure begins in the historic Samuel Lay House and winds through the grounds of the museum. The vignettes are based on Connecticut River Valley myths and legends. The theatrical production was produced and directed by Katie Gohde-Haase.
