Members of the Westbrook Boy Scout Troop 38 pick-up Christmas trees to be recycled as a troop fundraising activity. Proceeds benefit the troop activities throughout the year.

An East Haven Fire truck sits outside of Branford High School on December 30, 2020. The East Shore Health District administered 110 Moderna vaccinations in phase 1A  of the vaccine rollout. Phase 1A participants consisted of first responders and medical personnel from East Haven, North Branford & Branford such as school nurses, firefighters, EMT´s, paramedics & police officers. East Shore´s Emergency Preparedness Coordinator/ Health Educator Daisy Hernandez stated the vaccines are given in two doses 28 days apart. Branford School Superintendent Hamlet Hernandez donated the use of Branford High School for the event with Branford Fire Chief Thomas Mahoney provided EMT´s on duty in case of adverse reaction of which none were reported. The Landing of North Haven held A Winter Wonderland drive through event to benefit the Italian Youth Foundation that helps needy families in North Haven and surrounding communities.  The drive through featured a variety of decorated trees, elves with Santa and Mrs Claus, the Grinch, Princesses and snow. Snow flying was a big hit with visitors yound and old as they drove through the Winter Wonderland.

The Ivoryton Illuminations may not have had a big opening night this year, but it is a beautiful place to stop by for a stroll or sit in the car and listen to music. A goal of five thousand dollars was needed for the lights to be lit this year and the goal was met and even exceeded by one hundred and thirty five dollars according to the Ivoryton Village Alliance Illumination Fund go fund me page.

The North Haven Police held their 2nd annual Stuff a Cruiser event on Saturday December 5th outside the North Haven Target store from 9am - 2pm. Sadie and Melissa Blasak carry   bags of toys to be dropped off. Officer Sudac and Battick greet them as they arrive, holding their hoods that were being blown off by the wind.

North BranfordþÄôs drive-through holiday event Candy Cane Lane to celebrate the season had cars waiting to get in causing a little traffic on Forest Rd on Saturday night.  The drive through was a massive success with special glasses handed out to the kids to add to the sparkle of the lights, goody bags and a chance too wave to Santa and give him letters on their way out.

First Friday in Chester celebrated Starry Nights! with the lighting of the star installation by local artist Christopher Owens.  The white stars, around 155  were all around the downtown, on buildings, sidewalks, rooftops and a few on the hillside.  The stores and restaurants were open and live music filled the air. Rachel Carlson hung a star on the stone wall, outside Lark.

The Magic of Madison Holiday and Small Business Saturday, presented by the Madison Chamber of Commerce took place Downtown Madison, with outdoor market tents on the sidewalks, local shops open, and a drive by visit with Santa who greeted families in front of the Academy School. Santa listened and  spoke with two young children.

A surprise Sunday birthday drive by was arranged for Carmine þÄúChickþÄù Riccitelli who turned 90 on November 30th, with an appearance from the East Haven Fire Department Truck 4 and friends and family driving by many of them in decorated Jeeps. A mild November Saturday brought people out in Madison, shopping, strolling, and dinning. David Sylvester stopped in to Madison to pick up Pizza for a person who works in the New Haven Womens shelter, as a part of his #SmileWithBigDave Holiday Tour. He has been traveling throughout the United States to treat someone with a meal, hoping to spread cheer and hope.  He has been on this mission for 19 years, taking it on after a friend of his died in the 9/11 attacks.  This year has been a challenge for everyone, and he is hoping to finish it off bringing some humanity and smiles as he travels. Open for Business in Madison

The finishing touches were made on the large Train Show exhibit on Wednesday afternoon at the Connecticut River Museum.  This will be the 27th year of the Holiday Train Show artist Steve Cryan has created. The show will run from November 24th at 10am to February 14th at 5pm.  Due to COVID-19 new protocols are in place requiring any member or non member to purchase timed admission tickets online in advance of their visit. Steve Cryan set the train with the video camera on the tracks. The train's live video feed plaed on a monitor on the wall.

East HavenþÄôs Town Hall parking lot was teaming with Trick or Treaters Halloween evening.  It was one of the four locations in East Haven that the East Haven Rotary Club, with the support of the town and many local organizations, held  trunk-or-treats sites from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.  the other locations included  St. PioþÄôs in Foxon, the Pit in Foxon, and the Town Beach.Michele Frosolone helped Max Rodriguez  adjust the mask so they could see better.
