Dean’s List

• Philip Ledwith of Old Saybrook was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.30 and have no grade of incomplete or lower than C for the semester.

• Peter Costa of Westbrook and Martin McBride of Clinton were named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2019 semester at Siena College in Loudonville, New York.

• Yashveen Rai of Clinton was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Dean’s List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade point average and carry at least 14 credit hours. Rai is a biology major.

• Colin O’Donnell of Old Saybrook was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

• The following Old Saybrook students were named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven in West Haven for the spring 2019 semester:

Samantha Hart, majoring in fine arts in illustration at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts

Awards and Honors

• Mukshud Ahamed of Westbrook was awarded the Scott Biomedical Prize by Wesleyan University in Middletown for demonstrated excellence and interest in commencing a career in academic or applied medicine.

• Sara Whitney Farnoli of Westbrook was awarded $1,500 by Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) under its charity foundation, DCU for Kids. Farnoli will attend the University of Connecticut in fall 2019.

• Abigail Segal of Westbrook was awarded the 4.0 Gold Tassel Scholar by Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden for holding a cumulative four-year minimum average of 4.0. Following tradition, Segal wore golden tassels during graduation ceremonies in May. She is enrolling at Providence College in Rhode Island.

• Finian H. McGannon of Westbrook was awarded the National Merit Scholarship by Bowdoin College. McGannon plans to pursue a degree in mathematics.

• Jared Spanier of Clinton was inducted in May into Alpha Upsilon Chi at Eastern Connecticut State University. Alpha Upsilon Chi is the international honor society for health, physical education, recreation, sports, and dance established to recognize college students for their academic achievements and professional involvement in the field. Spanier majors in sport and leisure management. He also received the Senior Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Sport and Leisure Management.

Academic and Extracurricular Activities

• Mukshud Ahamed of Westbrook graduated with a B.A. in molecular biology and biochemistry from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

• Mira Elizabeth Siewert of Westbrook graduated magna cum laude in May with a B.A. in psychology and studio art from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

• Gabriella Roncone of Old Saybrook graduated cum laude in May with a B.A. in political science from Tufts University in Massachusetts.
