Valley Boys’ Soccer Scores Two More Victories; Girls’ Soccer Wins, Loses, and Draws

The Valley Regional boys’ soccer team played two games last week and picked up a pair of lopsided victories. The wins improved the Warriors’ record to 6-1 on the season.
On Oct. 19, Valley hosted North Branford and scored a 12-0 win over the Thunderbirds on Senior Night. The Warriors have nine seniors on the roster: Jackson Bisson, captain Michael Brooks, Sam Helsel, Keenan Pindar, Alex Pinkowish, Cameron Ruel, Ryan Shea, Andrew Sherman, and Ryan Silva.
Several of the seniors contributed and made their mark in the scorebook. Ruel posted a hat trick and Pinkowish provided a pair of goals as well. Helsel notched a goal and an assist. Brooks, Pindar, Shea, and Ryan Silva all added goals. Junior Jake Burdick added a goal and an assist, and fellow junior Tucker Burr scored a goal as well. Freshman Jake McKenna scored a goal, and sophomore Michale Kollmer had three assists. Sophomore Ben Costanzo added an assist as well. Bisson and Ian Silva shared duties in net, but neither needed to make a save.
On Oct. 23, Valley posted a 9-2 win over Coginchaug. Ryan Silva had an outstanding effort with four goals to his credit. Burdick had two goals and two assists, while Brooks, Helsel, and McKenna all had a goal apiece. Simon Partyka, Sherman, and Ruel also added assists. Ian Silva made four saves in net.
After a week of postponed contests, the Warriors played three games last week and ended up with a variety of outcomes with a win, a loss, and a tie. With these results, Valley’s record moved to 3-1-2 on the season.
On Oct. 20, the Warriors headed to North Branford for a match against the Thunderbirds. Valley scored a 5-0 win against North Branford. The Warriors received two goals from junior Taryn Frazier and another pair of goals from sophomore Grace Abderhalden. Junior Hannah Tejedor also scored a goal in the victory.
Two days later, the Warriors lost a 3-1 road contest against Coginchaug.
On Oct. 24, Valley hosted Old Saybrook and came away with a 2-2 tie against the Rams.
The Warriors played just one match last week and earned a victory in the contest. The win improved Valley’s record to 5-0 on the season.
On Oct. 20, the Warriors hosted Coginchaug and claimed a 3-0 victory over the Blue Devils. Valley won the first set 25-17, the second set 25-17, and the third set 25-18 on its way to the sweep.
