The Ivoryton Illuminations may not have had a big opening night this year, but it is a beautiful place to stop by for a stroll or sit in the car and listen to music. A goal of five thousand dollars was needed for the lights to be lit this year and the goal was met and even exceeded by one hundred and thirty five dollars according to the Ivoryton Village Alliance Illumination Fund go fund me page.

The finishing touches were made on the large Train Show exhibit on Wednesday afternoon at the Connecticut River Museum.  This will be the 27th year of the Holiday Train Show artist Steve Cryan has created. The show will run from November 24th at 10am to February 14th at 5pm.  Due to COVID-19 new protocols are in place requiring any member or non member to purchase timed admission tickets online in advance of their visit. Steve Cryan set the train with the video camera on the tracks. The train's live video feed plaed on a monitor on the wall.

The  Essex Fire Department hosted a drive-by Halloween event with spooky displays created by local businesses and organizations, rows of lit jack-o-lanterns carved by members of the community, and a variety of treat bags as well as new batteries for smoke  and carbon monoxide detectors that were acquired through a grant from energizer batteries.

The Valley Regional High School Crew Team held a Row-A-Thon to raise money for the team.  Each of the students got sponsors for their 5K rowing effort, with Adams Supermarket contributing food and snacks.
