I would like to thank our election officials for their hard work again processing a free, fair and safe election. More people voted than ever recorded. While everyone was worried about their own safety, Town Clerk and Registrar of Voters’ offices provide safe access for all to vote and guarded our votes so all would be counted. We decided the election, as always, we elected our officials.
We elect townspeople we trust to serve on town committees and town offices. These are our neighbors and our friends and people we respect and know to tell the truth. They are equally from differing political parties, but in a small town we care more for their honor and integrity.
We chose one town clerk, one Republican registrar of voters and one Democratic registrar of voters. The state trained and required them to pass tests as well as their assistants, election officials, moderators, and poll workers. They all pledge to uphold state law and guarantee honest, free, and fair elections.
Our town is like all the towns of our great state and throughout our country. Duty drives these citizens to carry out accurate elections and preserve our right to vote. To circulate falsehoods of fraud is insulting to these good, honest people who, in the midst of a pandemic, have risked their health and that of their families for us. And we turned out in record numbers asking them to work long hours—we owe them a debt of gratitude. We live in the greatest country because we can vote and know they each vote has been carefully counted. I thank all who made this possible. They are heroes preserving democracy.
