When Mohamad Hafez, an artist, found his exhibitions on hold due to the pandemic, he banded together with some friends and launched a café in the Westville neighborhood of New Haven, one that is creating some buzz. In a recent article in Connecticut Magazine, he says Pistachio Café, 911 Whalley Avenue, New Haven is an homage to everything he loves about the Middle East, and that his goal is to make customers feel like they’ve been transported out of Connecticut to the Mediterranean.
