Police Incident Report for June 7 to 13

The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Essex

Wednesday, June 7

No arrests were made.

• A two-vehicle accident was investigated on Railroad Avenue at 5:27 p.m. A 67 year-old Old Saybrook man was operating a bicycle when he struck the rear of a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan operated by a 22 year-old Westbrook woman. The bicyclist was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of injuries. No enforcement action was noted in the police press report.

• A 53 year-old woman of Ebony Lane in Ivoryton was issued a citation at 6:54 p.m. for failure to drive right after the 2013 Kia Sorrento she was operating westbound on Main Street veered to the right and struck the open driver’s door of a parked 2011 Toyota operated by a 30 year-old man of Westerly, Rhode Island. No injuries were reported or observed.

Thursday, June 8

No arrests were made.

Friday, June 9

• A 28 year-old New Britain man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and using a hand-held cell phone while driving.

Saturday, June 10

No arrests were made.

Sunday, June 11

• A 47 year-old woman of Pine Lake Road in Ivoryton was arrested at 8:34 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor and assault in the third degree after troopers responded to an active domestic dispute.

Deep River

Wednesday, June 7

• A 19 year-old Windsor man was arrested at 11:42 a.m. and charged with engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, improper use of marker plates, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He was processed on a $5,000 surety bond.

Thursday, June 8

No arrests were made.

Friday, June 9

• A 29 year-old New Britain woman was arrested at 12:30 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using a hand-held cell phone while driving, and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway.

• A 28 year-old man of Winter Avenue was arrested at 9:42 p.m. and charged with interfering with an officer and breach of peace in the second degree following a neighbor dispute.

Saturday, June 10 to Sunday, June 11

No arrests were made.

Monday, June 12

No arrests were made.

• A 39 year-old man of Hillside Terrace was issued a citation at 8:51 a.m. for failure to grant right of way at an intersection after the 2015 Chevy Silverado he was operating at the intersection of Union Street and Elm Street collided with a 2014 Ford Fusion operated by a 79 year-old Higganum woman. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

• A two-vehicle accident was investigated on Westbrook Road at 7:46 p.m. A 27 year-old Uncasville man was operating a 1998 Ford Escort out of the Cumberland Farms parking lot and collided with a 2009 Nissan Versa operated by a 51 year-old Deep River woman. No injuries were reported or observed and no enforcement action was indicated in the police press report.

Chester

Wednesday, June 7 to Thursday, June 8

No arrests were made.

Friday, June 9

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 16 Winthrop Road at 5:41 p.m. Between 4 and 5:30 p.m., 25 units of vinyl flooring were taken from the driveway of the residence. The flooring was stacked on a pallet near the edge of the roadway. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Troop John Swokla at 860-399-2100. All calls will be kept confidential.

• A two-vehicle accident was investigated on West Main Street at 8:46 p.m. A man of Saint Lucia, Florida was operating a 2017 Harley Davidson motor cycle westbound on West Main Street when he crossed the double yellow line and struck the left side of a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass operated by a 23 year-old Lebanon woman. The motor cycle operator was transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disable damage. No enforcement action was indicated in the police press report.

Saturday, June 10 to Tuesday, June 13
