HCH Spring Craft Fair Moves Outdoors for 2021

Those looking to redecorate after some spring cleaning may want to head to the Henry Carter Hull Library Outdoor Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to browse a variety of wares from local vendors.

The event supports local small businesses who sell items like fiber arts, jewelry, home décor, desserts, kitchen supplies, pet and garden gear, henna, and more. Shoppers will receive a free reusable tote bag while supplies last. Masks and social distancing will be required. In the event of inclement weather, a make up date has been set for Saturday, April 24.

Barb Loescher has worked at the library for 23 years and has coordinated the fair for the last several years.

“We usually hold our Spring Fair in our community room, but with COVID, we decided to try an outdoor event,” Loescher said.

Loescher said there will be approximately 20 local vendors at the fair.

“We have a wide variety of vendors including jewelers, woodworkers, fabric artists, knitted and crocheted items for babies to adults, shell art, sea glass art, home decor, a henna artist, fudge, and chocolates. We try to choose vendors who are representative of the wide variety of items available,” Loescher said.

The Spring Craft Fair is not a new event, but sadly it had to been canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But, as the world has seen glimpses of life returning to normal becoming more and more, the return of annual events like the craft fair can be seen as yet another one of those glimpses of life pre-2020.

“Since we had to cancel last spring’s fair when COVID hit, I am looking forward to reconnecting with the folks who have participated before, and also to meeting quite a few new folks,” Loescher said.

“I would like to encourage people to come support our local artists and craftspeople. Shop local, Mother’s Day is right around the corner! All vendor fees are a donation to HCH Library,” she added.
