Spring Plant Sale and More Coming to Branford Green May 15

On Saturday, May 15 from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Branford Community Gardens and Branford Garden Club are holding their Annual Spring Plant Sale, and more, on the Branford town green.  The sale will include vegetable, herb and flower seedlings, floral notecards, cut flower bouquets, plant divisions, annuals, sunflower bee boxes for children and pollinator plants. Mark your calendar and make space in your garden: on Saturday, May 15 from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Branford Community Gardens and Branford Garden Club are holding their Annual Spring Plant Sale, and more, on the Branford town green.

The sale will include vegetable, herb and flower seedlings, floral notecards, cut flower bouquets, plant divisions, annuals, sunflower bee boxes for children and pollinator plants.

Richard Sala of Bartlett Tree Experts (Guilford) will also be there to hand out 200 native tree seedlings, 100 white oak and 100 flowering dogwoods, as part of the Bartlett Legacy Tree Program. They will also be joined by the Earth Keepers of Branford Trinity Episcopal Church who will encourage us to "Take the Earth Keepers Challenge" and learn about Living Wisely & Well on Planet Earth.

For over 90 years, the mission of the Branford Garden Club has been to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, conservation, horticulture and floral design, encourage and support civic development and promote conservation efforts. The Branford Garden Club consists of a diverse group of enthusiastic members who share a passion for gardening, design and community involvement.  As an award-winning civic organization engaged in a wide variety of community activities, Branford Garden Club is a member of The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc.

Branford Community Gardens, Inc., established in 2009, is an all-volunteer organization, dedicated to the promotion of locally grown, organic produce. Their garden site is on Board of Education property at 16 Birch Road, and comprises 22 individual plots for rent – fourteen 20' x 20' plots and eight 10' x 20' plots. All produce from an additional 20' x 50' plot is donated to families in need in Branford. The group has a robust volunteer corps dedicated to this endeavor.
