Shirley Bartlett Tibbitts
Shirley Bartlett Tibbitts, 85, of Venice, Florida and formerly of Madison, passed away on Dec. 20, 2020. Shirley was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Elmhurst, Illinois, the daughter of the late Leroy and Ruth Bartlett.
She worked for the Discovery Museum director of volunteers in Bridgeport and retired in 1995. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, honorary director of the Scranton Memorial Library of Madison, and a member of the First Congregational Church, also of Madison.
Shirley is survived by her husband Allan Tibbitts of Venice, Florida; sister Diane Commes of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; son A. Jeffery Tibbitts of Venice, Florida; daughter Kathryn T. Burt of New Canaan; granddaughters Maggie O’Neil of Manhattan, New York and Caroline Tibbitts of Washington, D.C.; grandsons Matthew Tibbitts of Washington, D.C., Harrison Burt of Manhattan, New York, and Clayton Burt, Theodore Burt and Tristan Burt, all of New Canaan.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held in June in Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the Scranton Memorial Library of Madison, and you can email donations to scrantonlibrary.org.
